SIU Concessions Sign-up Form

One of our many fundraising activities we have is working in the SIU Arena concessions area during EXCITING SALUKI BASKETBALL games. Each concession area we work requires 10 people. All workers should wear red Crimson shirts or the fall tour shirts. The basic work plan is:

Arrive about 2 hours before game time
Set up the concession stand and determine who will be working what jobs
Cook the meat and prepare other items for the game
Work until the end of the game
Clean the stand and leave when everything is completed

Typically 3 adults run the cash registers, one person makes popcorn, one keeps the meat going, one takes care of nachos, and another pretzels. Other workers help by filling sodas for those running the cash registers and filling orders.

Students may work the events, however they must have an adult work with them. We are responsible for taking an inventory prior to the event and again after the event. The inventory removed is expected to match the amount of money taken in the for the night. It is a lot of responsibility.

We are guaranteed $200.00 for the event which means each worker gets $20.00 for their efforts. If we take in more than $2,000 for the event, we get an additional 10% of the amount taken in. Therefore if we bring in $2500, each worker would make $25, not $20. Also, 10% goes to the general fund.

Many find this to be a great way to raise money without having to ask people to buy things. We will do our best to schedule workers on the dates they have requested, but we may need to do some rescheduling to insure that each work team includes experienced members. Debbie Parnell is the coordinator for our activities at SIU concessions this year.
