At the conclusion of the marching band season, Concert band begins with all wind and percussion students. Concert band performs music of the highest quality stressing fundamentals of tone production, musicianship, theory, and interpretation of various styles. Members of this group are eligible to audition for the Illinois Music Educators District and State level conventions, Heartland Honor Band, River to River conference band, and participate in Madrigal Brass as well as the pit orchestra for the high school’s Musical productions.

All students in Concert band participate in Solo & Ensemble Contest, as well as Organizational Contest, and numerous concerts throughout the year. Students also split time with the pep band performing at home high school basketball games. All Concert band students are tested regularly on all major and minor scales, etudes, and selected excerpts from the band’s repertoire. The Band also places a strong emphasis on sight-reading at least 1 new piece of music each week.

In addition to it’s curricular performances, the band tours all of the elementary schools within the District, community events, and concert band invitational contest.
