Crimson Express presents its 2005 Production entitled "CLUB NUTVILLE". Music is arranged by Assistant
Director Michael Moreland and is based upon the
compositions "Nutville"- by Silver Horace, "My Funny
Valentine"- by Richard Rogers, and "St. Louis Blues"-
by William Christopher Handy. The music is quite rhymically and stylistically
diverse creating many musical challenges for the
performers.
Several
students are featured including Clarinet soloists
William Bryant and Jessica Herring, Vocal Soloist
Jessica Herring, Trombone Soloist Timothy Wessel,
Mellophone Soloist Alysha Baratta, Bass player Nick
Barger, and the percussion section. Leading Crimson
Express on the field is Student Conductor Micah Mayes.
Visually unique to this years production is a
grounded percussion section which is located stage
right between the 45 and 35 yard lines at the front
hash. This is intended to be the "stage" as one might
see in a 1940's era jazz club. A variety of costumes
and props are utilized to further suggest a visual
"club" reference. Challenging physical demands are
placed upon all performers requiring of them a high
level of technique in both marching and dance.
Visual design is by Ryan Miller and
Director Justin Klarer. Percussion parts are arranged
by David Allen. Other Assistants include Carl
Alexander-Percussion, Alix Beckman-Color Guard, and
Nick Williams-Music.
Crimson Express hopes you enjoy our 2005 production!
