The MHS Jazz Band is in it's first year of existence and offers MHS students the opportunity to exlpore the only musical art form that is native to their own country. After the audition process, selected students rehearse two days a week for 45 min. Students are exposed to large ensemble literature as well as solo and improvisation study. Students are also afforded the opportunity to perform along side professionnal jazz musicians from the area at the annual Steak & Jazz fundraiser that is held with the Sesser High School Jazz Band. The Jazz band will have around 10-12 perrformances over the course of the school year and will travel with the concert band to festivals and contest in the spring.
