The Steak and Jazz dinner was a tremendous event. Mr. Moreland would like to thank Dave Barger, Steve Buhman, Mike Koberstein, and Scott Halim for preparing the steaks; Wendy and Dave Preece, Donna Tindle, Ann Hogan, Patty Koenig, and the Runge Family for decorations, the MHS Cafeteria staff, the MHS Custodial Staff, Bob Hall and the MHS Key Club, the entire MHS Administration and Faculty, Dave and Al Allen for their media support, and the Crimson Express Boosters and all MHS Band parents for their support and contributions. Both bands, Concert Band and Jazz Band, received a Division I rating at Organizational Contest in Mt. Vernon. Also, both bands received the maximum amount of points possible from all 3 judges as well as a perfect score in sight reading. Congratulations to all.

The Murphysboro Music Department competed in the Illinois High School Association"s State Solo & Ensemble Contest held at Massac County on 3/1/08. Murphysboro had 42 entries in the contest and received: 27 Division I ratings; 14 Division II ratings; and 1 Division III rating. Congratulations to all who participated.
